Intent to Run
The Florida Housing Officers organization has four executive board positions that serve the Housing and Residence Life professionals in the state of Florida. These executive board positions are State Representative, Student Leadership Coordinator, Treasurer, and Sage. Due to the Treasurer elevating to the State Representative role, there is a vacancy in the Treasurer position for the 2025-2027 term; as a result, a special election will commence. For the FHO Annual Fall Business Meeting 2026, the Treasurer position will be vacant and are soliciting any interested parties to submit their Intent to Run for the 2027-2029 term. Please review the position information for the following vacancies:

State Representative
The State Representative shall:

Supervise the activities of the organization.

Preside over all meetings and serve as supervisor of elections.

Coordinate fall FHO and May SHO meetings.
-
Be available to the board for one-on-one meetings as requested.

Uphold all responsibilities as laid out by the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers.

Serve a two (2) year term and continue to serve as a resource for the organization.

Student Leadership Coordinator
The Student Leadership Coordinator shall:

Assist the State Representative in their duties.

Assume the State Representative’s responsibilities in their absence.

Coordinate the Leadership Education & Advancement Program (LEAP).
-
Plan and implement the LEAP annual conference.

Assist in special projects as assigned by the State Representative.
-
Shall not serve as a member of the Governing Council for the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers.

Serve a one (2) year term.

Treasurer
The Tresurer shall:

Serve as the custodian of all organization funds and disbursements acting in good faith and serving in a fiduciary role to the organization.

Maintain careful and sufficient records to account for all organization funds and make such records available to any member upon request

Present an annual budget report at the FHO Fall meeting

File an annual report by the third Friday of September with the Florida Department of State Division of Corporations

File an annual form 990-series return by May 15h with the IRS
-
Assist in special projects as assigned by the State Representatives

Shall not serve as a member of the Governing Council for the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers

Serve a two (2) year term concurrent with the Sage (2025-2027)
To express interest in running, please review the following guidelines:

Candidates must submit a 3 – 5 minute video expressing which position they are interested in, the skills and experiences they bring to the position, and any goals, information, or hopes they would like to share.

Videos are due on October 17th, 2025 by end of business.

Videos will be provided to Senior Housing Officers directly for their viewing and voting. Senior Housing Officers will provide any questions for candidates to the Sage, which will be provided back to candidates for their consideration. Answers will be provided to SHOs and votes will be due by November 10th, 2025 at the end of business.

The results of the SHO vote will be announced at the FHO Annual Fall Business Meeting.
